ELAINE SELTZER,
83, of Southfield,
died May 13, 2013.
She was a for-
mer owner of
Madelaine's in the
Bloomfield Plaza.
Mrs. Seltzer is
Seltzer
survived by her
husband, Seymour
"Cy" Seltzer; sons and daughters-
in-law, Michael and Jill Seltzer of
Katy, Texas, Lee Seltzer of Ferndale,
Robert and Mindy Seltzer of
Altamonte Springs, Fla.; grandchil-
dren, Adam and Betsy Seltzer, Jake
Seltzer, David Seltzer, Lesley Seltzer
and her fiance, Mark Sassin, and
Dani Seltzer; sister, Iris Fynke; sis-
ter-in-law and brother-in-law, Muriel
and Alex Cowan; also survived by
many loving nieces and nephews.
She was the devoted daughter
of the late Max Kerner, the late
Flora Kerner Kovan and the late Dr.
Dennis Kovan; the cherished sister of
the late Shirley Kerner; the dear sis-
ter-in-law of the late Richard Fynke
and the late Dolly Alper Solomon.
Interment was at Beth El Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made
to Children's Hospital, Flora and Dr.
Dennis D. Kovan Memorial Fund,

SIDNEY SIEGEL,
87, died peacefully
on May 4, 2013.
He was born
in New Bedford,
Mass., on Sept. 9,
1925, and spent the
first part of his life
Siegel
in Oak Park and
West Bloomfield
until he and his wife, Lila, moved to
Phoenix in 1987.
Mr. Siegel will be fondly remem-
bered by his family and friends as
a loving husband, father, grandfa-
ther, uncle and a dear friend. As
a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War
II, his last ranking was pharma-
cist mate third class. He spent 30
years as a director and chief for the
Department of Defense and received
numerous recognitions for his inno-
vative work, commitment to his staff
and his country.
The family will miss his smile,
kindness, sense of humor and the
generosity of his caring sprit; and he
will be in their hearts and thoughts
forever.
Mr. Siegel was loved and cherished
by his son and daughter-in-law, Alan

and Nancy Siegel; and grandchil-
dren, Samita and Steven. He is also
survived by his sister, Edna; nieces,
nephews, other relatives and close
family friends.
He was preceded in death by his
wife of 60 years, Lila Siegel; his sis-
ter, Ella; brothers, Ernie and Gilbert.
Services were held in Phoenix,
Ariz. Arrangements by Sinai
Mortuary of Arizona.

GLORIA L. SIMON, 88, of
Richardson, Texas, died May 7, 2013.
She is survived by her daughter,
Sharla Rosenstein of Richardson,
Texas; son and daughter-in-
law, Howard and Mary Simon of
Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchil-
dren, Becky Simon, Leah Simon,
Mathew Rosenstein; niece, Karen
(Keith) Bowler; nephews, Richard
LoVasco, Donald (Laura) LoVasco
and Robert LoVasco.
Contributions may be made to
Temple Israel or to a charity of one's
choice. Interment took place at the
Beth El Memorial Park Cemetery in
Livonia. Arrangements by Dorfman
Chapel.

1 BERNIE TOBY, 72,
of Farmington Hills,
died May 7, 2013.
He was the long-
time co-owner of
General and Bagley
Auto Parts in
Pontiac.

He is survived
by his beloved
wife of 50 years, Rebecca Toby of
Farmington Hills; daughters and
sons-in-law, Cari and Daniel Cohen
of West Bloomfield, Nancy and Dr.
Daniel Cohen of West Bloomfield;
son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and
Jessica Toby of West Bloomfield;
brothers and sister-in-law, Charles
and Marlene Toby of Sylvan Lake,
Melvin Toby of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren, Jared and Seth
Cohen, Matthew and Allison Cohen,
Madalyn, Eli Benjamin and Miley
Toby; many loving nieces, nephews,
other loving family members and
friends.
Mr. Toby was son of the late
Samuel and the late Ethel Toby; the
brother-in-law of the late Rosann
Toby.

American Diabetes Association or
to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.
