He was born in New Bedford, Mass., on Sept. 9, 1925, and spent the first part of his life Siegel in Oak Park and West Bloomfield until he and his wife, Lila, moved to Phoenix in 1987. Mr. Siegel will be fondly remem- bered by his family and friends as a loving husband, father, grandfa- ther, uncle and a dear friend. As a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, his last ranking was pharma- cist mate third class. He spent 30 years as a director and chief for the Department of Defense and received numerous recognitions for his inno- vative work, commitment to his staff and his country. The family will miss his smile, kindness, sense of humor and the generosity of his caring sprit; and he will be in their hearts and thoughts forever. Mr. Siegel was loved and cherished by his son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Nancy Siegel; and grandchil- dren, Samita and Steven. He is also survived by his sister, Edna; nieces, nephews, other relatives and close family friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lila Siegel; his sis- ter, Ella; brothers, Ernie and Gilbert. Services were held in Phoenix, Ariz. Arrangements by Sinai Mortuary of Arizona.
