Special Weekend

Musician Josh Nelson brings his
spirited music to Beth El.

T

emple Beth El in Bloomfield Township capped off
its special weekend with singer/songwriter Josh
Nelson with a community concert March 23 at the
synagogue attended by several hundred people.
Nelson performed his music and that of other Jewish
musical artists alone, with Beth El Cantor Rachel Gottlieb
Kalmowitz and with the Beth El choir.
His spirited music and his spiritual conversation marked
the perfect end to the learning weekend. ❑

Gala Evening

Adat Shalom's "Missebaba" was truly a party that was cool.

A

dat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills culminated
Purim in grand style with "Missebaba" — the coolest party
ever! "Missebaba" comes from the Hebrew for miseebah
(party) and sabahbah (cool, having fun and all good).
The gala event on March 2 drew several hundred guests in festive
attire who enjoyed appetizers, drinks and a buffet supper catered by
Epic Kosher Catering, along with dancing to the great sounds of the
Brian Alexander band, and the awarding of four terrific prizes from
the synagogue's annual fundraising raffle.
