T emple Beth El in Bloomfield Township capped off its special weekend with singer/songwriter Josh Nelson with a community concert March 23 at the synagogue attended by several hundred people. Nelson performed his music and that of other Jewish musical artists alone, with Beth El Cantor Rachel Gottlieb Kalmowitz and with the Beth El choir. Gala Evening Adat Shalom's "Missebaba" was truly a party that was cool. A dat Shalom Synagogue in Farmington Hills culminated Purim in grand style with "Missebaba" — the coolest party ever! "Missebaba" comes from the Hebrew for miseebah (party) and sabahbah (cool, having fun and all good). The gala event on March 2 drew several hundred guests in festive attire who enjoyed appetizers, drinks and a buffet supper catered by Epic Kosher Catering, along with dancing to the great sounds of the Brian Alexander band, and the awarding of four terrific prizes from the synagogue's annual fundraising raffle.
