"DOLLY"
FRIEDMAN, 88, of
Farmington Hills,
died April 5, 2013.
She is survived
by her daughter and
son-in-law, Barbara
Friedman
and Steven Kohler
of West Bloomfield; grandsons, Jay
and Ian Kohler; many loving nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Friedman was the beloved
wife of the late Aaron Friedman; the
devoted daughter of the late Joseph
and the late Ida Geselis; the cher-
ished sister of the late Aaron Geselis.
Interment was at Hebrew
Memorial Park. Contributions may
be made to Wayne State University,
Aaron Geselis Memorial Scholarship
Fund, 87 E. Ferry, Detroit, MI 48202,
www.iog.wayne.edu; or a charity of
one's choice. Arrangements by Ira
Kaufman Chapel.

MARCIA GERST, 76, of Ocala, Fla.,
died April 4, 2013.
She is survived her daughter,
Kimberly Gerst of Ocala; sons,
Ronald Gerst of Royal Oak, Michael
Gerst of Pembroke Pines, Fla.; sis-
ters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and
Leonard Frishman of Novi, Janice
Smith of Commerce Township,
Paula and Joel Smith of Persimmons
Loop Village, Fla.; grandchildren,
Haley, Justin and Ava. She is also
remembered by many loving nieces,
nephews, other family members and
friends.
Mrs. Gerst was the beloved wife of
the late Morton Gerst; the sister-in-
law of the late Seymour Smith.
Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice. Interment
took place at Machpelah Cemetery in
Ferndale. Arrangements by Dorfman
Chapel.

CHANA GOLDFEIN, 40, of Oak
Park, died March 31, 2013.
She is survived by her husband,
Yisroel Goldfein; children, Chumi,
Yudi, Boruch Meir, Rivky, Mimi,
Mordechai, Sarah Leah; parents,
Irwin and Davida Cohen of Oak
Park.

IRVING HERMAN,
93, former Detroiter
of Las Vegas, passed
away March 29,
2013.
He was born
Feb. 5, 1920, in the
Bronx, N.Y., and was
Herman
a resident of Nevada
since 1998. Mr.
Herman served in the U.S. Army Air
Corps during World War II and was a
retired newspaper journalist.
He is survived by his daughter,
Sherri (Gary) Snobel of Las Vegas;
sons, Bruce ((Vicki) Herman of Las
Vegas, and Larry (Diane) Herman
of Jerusalem, Israel; granddaughter,
Gabriele (Danny) Snobel-Cordle of
Chicago; grandsons, Reuvan (Tamar)
Herman of Los Angeles, and Zachary
(Amanda) Snobel of Las Vegas; grand-
daughter, Shoshana Herman of Boston;
grandsons, Ben Herman, Aaron
Herman and Greg Herman, all of Los
Angeles; great-grandchildren, Austin,
Ashton, Chloe and Jayden.
Services were at King David
Memorial Chapel, 2697 E. Eldorado
Lane in Las Vegas. Interment followed
at King David Cemetery. King
David Memorial Chapel handled the
arrangements.

ROGER H. KATZ,
65, of Dummerston,
Vt., died April 1,
2013.
He was born in
Detroit on Aug.
15, 1947, the son
of Edward and
Katz
Genevieve (Kocot)
Katz. He was raised
and educated in the Detroit area, grad-
uating from Royal Oak Dondero High
School, class of 1965.
A resident of the Brattleboro, Vt.,
area since 1965, he attended Marlboro
College, where he earned a B.S.
degree in physiology. Once arriving
in Brattleboro to attend Marlboro, he
fell in love with the area, making it his
home for 48 years. Well known in the
community as a professional photogra-
pher, he established two photography
shops, Elliot Street Camera and Photo
101, then located on Main Street. His
current business, Black Mountain
Studios, was operated out of his home
in Dummerston. At the time of his
death, he had also been employed at
Omega Optical in Brattleboro, working
for his close friend Robert Johnson. In
addition to his passion for photogra-
phy, he enjoyed cycling, contra danc-
ing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing
and time spent in the woods.
