IRVING HERMAN, 93, former Detroiter of Las Vegas, passed away March 29, 2013. He was born Feb. 5, 1920, in the Bronx, N.Y., and was Herman a resident of Nevada since 1998. Mr. Herman served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a retired newspaper journalist. He is survived by his daughter, Sherri (Gary) Snobel of Las Vegas; sons, Bruce ((Vicki) Herman of Las Vegas, and Larry (Diane) Herman of Jerusalem, Israel; granddaughter, Gabriele (Danny) Snobel-Cordle of Chicago; grandsons, Reuvan (Tamar) Herman of Los Angeles, and Zachary (Amanda) Snobel of Las Vegas; grand- daughter, Shoshana Herman of Boston; grandsons, Ben Herman, Aaron Herman and Greg Herman, all of Los Angeles; great-grandchildren, Austin, Ashton, Chloe and Jayden. KATZ, 65, of Dummerston, Vt., died April 1, 2013. He was born in Detroit on Aug. 15, 1947, the son of Edward and Katz Genevieve (Kocot) Katz. He was raised and educated in the Detroit area, grad- uating from Royal Oak Dondero High School, class of 1965. A resident of the Brattleboro, Vt., area since 1965, he attended Marlboro College, where he earned a B.S. degree in physiology. Once arriving in Brattleboro to attend Marlboro, he fell in love with the area, making it his home for 48 years. Well known in the community as a professional photogra- pher, he established two photography shops, Elliot Street Camera and Photo 101, then located on Main Street. His current business, Black Mountain Studios, was operated out of his home in Dummerston. At the time of his death, he had also been employed at Omega Optical in Brattleboro, working for his close friend Robert Johnson. In addition to his passion for photogra- phy, he enjoyed cycling, contra danc- ing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and time spent in the woods.
