70, of Oak Park died Jan. 21, 2013.
He was a proud Tin Can Sailor,
having spent 10 years on active duty
in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Gamburd loved
the water and this is why he chose
the Navy over the Air Force, in which
his father had served during World
War II. He recounted watching the
sea from his ship and marveling at
the changes in the ocean at differ-
ent times of the day and in varying
weather conditions. He loved swim-
ming, snorkeling, watching birds,
listening to Latin jazz, seeing movies
and reading history. For his 70th
birthday, he had requested a copy of
The Admirals but fell ill shortly before
he reached his birthday milestone.
Mr. Gamburd was the beloved son of
the late Dorothy Gamburd and the late
Louis (Duke) Davidoff; adored brother
of the late Sandra Lee Davidoff.
He will be sorely missed by his cous-
ins Ethel Fitzerman, Carole and Ronald
Weiner, Marcia Zacks, David Gamburd
and Harry Gamburd; and his lifelong
friends, Barry and Carole Cohen.
Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice. Services and
interment were held at Westwood
Cemetery in Inkster. Arrangements by
Hebrew Memorial Chapel.
