West Bloomfield's Orchard Mall offers everything from high-end to funky
finds.

W

est Bloomfield's busy
intersection of Maple
Road (15 Mile Road)
and Orchard Lake Road has
evolved into a happening shop-
ping destination of its own with
an abundance of family-owned
and entrepreneurial boutiques and
businesses.
On the northeast corner,
Orchard Mall, an intimate shop-
ping destination in itself, has
remained popular since 1972,
currently anchored by Hiller's
Market. Pick up a gift certificate
for a Zumba class for a friend at
Gotta Dance, a photo session at
Frameable Faces, lush robes and
linens at Nancy's Linens, hard-to-
find fun for the kids at Toyology,
hip fashion for kids and women at
Guys N Gals, hand-picked table-
top and gifts at Slades and stun-
ning jewels at Tapper's Diamonds
& Fine Jewelry.
Need a quick-and-easy toy and
wrapping paper along with your
prescription? Say On Drugs has a
surprisingly extensive selection of
gifts, both Chanukah-themed and
year-round.
Head south across Maple for
the crisply updated Old Orchard
Plaza, where Plum Market takes
center stage with its specialty food
and wine, gourmet baked goods,
good-for-you beauty offerings and
an attached Swirlberry Frozen
Yogurt
another great stop for
the last-second perfect gift. Stop in
at Running Fit for active accoutre-

-

ments and Just Baked for jumbo
gourmet cupcakes and specialty
cakes.
Further south, almost sharing
a parking lot, is the Boardwalk,
where shoppers can stroll down
the strip and pop into virtually
a shop for everyone: Check out
Closet NV, an eco-chic consign-
ment shop with a penchant for
Chanel and Prada, unique designs
at Stone's Fine Jewelry, beauty
and accessory must-haves at
Ruby's Balm, trendy women's
clothing at Rear Ends, with shoes
to go along at Sundance Shoes.
More sophisticated styles can
be found at Margeurite and
adorable clothing, toys, gifts and
more for both babies and kids at
Peekabootique.
Head west across Orchard to
the Bloomfield Plaza, and you'll
find the more than 80-year-old
Brody's, still the hot spot for
camp supplies and gifts for young
campers, Lolly Ella, an emporium
for high-end costume jewelry at
incredibly low prices, sweet gifts
and clothing for babies and young
kids at Baby & Me, designer
maternity and nursing finds at
Buddha Belly Maternity and
more.
While you're there: Plenty of
snacking options beckon, either in
walking distance or a quick drive
across the street. Check out Zoe's
House of Pancakes, Mene Sushi,
Prime 29 Steakhouse, Redcoat
Tavern and Stage Deli.
