ESTHER
KAUFMAN, 92,
of Las Vegas,
passed away Aug.
7, 2012.
She was born
Dec. 11, 1919,
in Detroit, and
Kaufman
was a resident
of Nevada since
2005. She was a member of the
Jewish War Veterans of Detroit.
Mrs. Kaufman was preceded
in death by her husband, Max
Kaufman; and her daughter,
Marilyn Haile.
She is survived by her sons, Allen
(Roslyn) Feld of West Bloomfield,
and Jeffrey (Ann) Feld of Las Vegas;
brother, Alan Cohen of Farmington;
grandchildren, Rochelle (David),
Jason (Franci), Melissa (Kelly),
Shelly, Michael (Jodi) and David
(Laura); and 13 great-grandchil-
dren.
Contributions may be made to
Creekside Hospice or a charity of
one's choice. King David Memorial
Chapel of Las Vegas, Nev., made the
arrangements.

SYLVIA KARR, widow of Harold
Karr, died Aug. 7, 2012.
A native of Southfield, she was a
resident of Newport News, Va., for
the past 14 years.
A former member of Temple
Beth El in Bloomfield Township,
she was a member of Rodef Sholom
Temple, Newport News.
She was preceded in death by her
sisters, Edna Tobb, Betty Schiller;
and brother, Jerome Wasserman.
Survivors include a daughter and
son-in-law, Sherry and Dr. Arthur
Wolfson of Yorktown; and daughter,
Marcy Karr Trice of Michigan; two
grandchildren, Matthew and Kyle
Wolfson. She leaves to cherish her
memory a host of nieces and neph-
ews as well as special friend Donald
Olson.
Graveside services were held
Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at 11 a.m.,
officiated by Rabbi Gilah Dror, in
the Jewish Cemetery of the Virginia
Peninsula.
Contributions may be made
in her memory to the Rabbi's
Discretionary Fund, Rodef Sholom
Temple, Hampton, Va.; or to the
American Cancer Society.
Peninsula Funeral Home is in
charge of arrangements.
