May 5. Sharing in
this simchah will be
his sister Cecily and his proud grand-
mothers Bubby Rosalyn Meyer of West
Bloomfield and Toby Myers of
Barrington, Ill. Cooper is the grandson
of the late Zaydie Harvey Meyer and
the late Harrison Myers.
Cooper attends West Hills Middle
School in Bloomfield Hills. Among his
various mitzvah projects, he volun-
teered to pack food on Christmas Day
at Forgotten Harvest.

Shelby is a student at Clifford Smart
Middle School in Walled lake. An
animator and artist, Shelby supports
Work of Art, a nonprofit organization
that awards grant money for art pro-
grams in Detroit schools.

McMaken. His late great-grandparents
are Sadie and Henry Small, and Paula
and Adolph Trost.
Jared is a student at O.E. Dunckel
Middle School in Farmington Hills. He
felt volunteering at Sweet Dreamzzz
was a meaningful mitzvah experience.

JPI's [Mai Mitzvah

On Saturday, May 5, the Jewish Parents Institute will celebrate the b'nai
mitzvah of Alec Barber, Abigail Barnett, Evan Cikra, Matthew Lampear and
Isabella Pizzo. The service will be at 10 a.m. at the Jewish Community Center
in West Bloomfield.
Each student has completed more than 32 hours of community service,
written a paper on a Jewish theme and prepared a speech to be delivered on
May 5. Parents and students together participated in the annual fall cleanup,
volunteered at Yad Ezra, and visited the Holocaust Museum and the National
Arab American Museum.
JPI, founded in 1947, provides secular Jewish education, focusing on Jewish
history, culture and the underlying ethical and moral values inherent in
