Phillip Schultz
My Dyslexia

MY

In 2008 Phillip Schultz won the
Pulitzer Prize for Failure, a collection of poems
about his father. Yet he remained haunted by
feelings of inadequacy and childhood
memories where he was regarded a slow
student, one who would accomplish nothing.

DYSLEXIA

Then Schultz's son was diagnosed with dyslexia
— and suddenly everything made sense. For the first time, Schultz
realized that he, too, was dyslexic.

In this poignant memoir, Phillip Schultz tells his incredible story:
that of a young boy who couldn't even read until he was 11, yet went
on to become a leading poet and winner of the Pulitzer Prize.

Andrew Gross
Eyes Wide Open
New York Times best-selling author and

the co-author of numerous books with James
Patterson, Andrew Gross is the kind of writer
who keeps readers so engrossed they forget to
eat, sleep or head to work. Eyes Wide Open,
which author Nelson Demille termed "A rare and
menacing psychological thriller that works on
every level" is no exception.

Vin Mariani was quite a wine. Ulysses S. Grant,
Arthur Conan Doyle and Thomas Edison were
all fans. Just a few sips and you were certain to
be back. No doubt this had something to do
with Vin Mariani's unique ingredient: cocaine.

An Anatomy of Addiction is University of Michigan Professor Dr.
Howard Markel's compelling story of the most beloved drug of the
second half of
the 19th century, and two men whose lives were shaped by their
passion for it.

Cocaine was regarded as the panacea for virtually every malady
imaginable, and its greatest advocates included Sigmund Freud
and William Halsted, one of the n-lost brilliant surgeons of his day.
Both not only made use of the drug in their work; they became
addicts themselves.

As the book begins, Jay Ehrlich hears that his 21-year-old nephew has
just killed himself. Perhaps. As Jay learns more, he begins to have his
doubts about the suicide theory — especially when he looks deeper into
the life of the boy's father, Charlie, Jay's older brother. He lives a quiet
life now but in the '60s Charlie was a member of a cult. That discovery
leads Jay further into his brother's troubled past: a past filled with
secrets, mental illness and a killer's determination for revenge.

Al Abrams
Hype & Soul - Behind the
Scenes at Motown

Motown's first employee, Al Abrams begged
a job from Berry Gordy in 1959 before the

Hitsville's iconic director of publicity.

Hype & Soul provides an incredible behind-the-scenes look at one of
Detroit's most famous businesses and the creative, savvy and complex
figures involved in Motown; a genius named Berry Gordy; and how a
small black company came of age during the Civil Rights Movement.
This book is a must-read for anyone who loves music, history or
Detroit, or who can't resist an amazing story.

Rosen was 22 years old when, she writes, she began playing
with an "angel board:' much like a Ouija board, through which
she was able to contact her dead grandmother, Babe. Soon,
Rosen began to experience "automatic writing," wherein dead
people send messages by directing the writing hand of a living
person. Soon, Rosen was able to overcome her own depression
and learn how to help others.

Filled with humor and warmth, Spirited is both Rosen's story as
well as a guide to help anyone find peace.
