suddenly July 24, 2011.
He was deeply loved, had an
unwavering zest for life and will
be dearly missed by all those

RALPH SIMKOVITZ SANDS, 80,
of Woodland Hills, Calif., formerly
of Detroit, died July 21, 2011.
He served in the Navy during
the Korean War, assisting a naval
dentist officer in Japan. When he
returned home, he studied, gradu-
ated as a dentist and changed his
name to Sands. He later studied
and went to California to work
there as a dentist and oral sur-
geon.
Dr. Sands is survived by his
wife, Helen; son, Bradely; daugh-
ter, Laura; brother and sister-in-
law, Wilbert and Elsie Simkovitz;
nephews and nieces.
