WW II Vet Describes
Heroics Against Nazis
The Fox Run retire-

presents Guy Stern:
A Ritchie Boy
Remembers, a doc-
umentary presenta-
tion by Dr. Stern,
one of the few sur-
Guy Stern
viving members of
the Ritchie Boys,
who played a key role in the defeat of
the Nazis in World War II.
This free event, open to all, will
be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 19, at the Fox
Run Performing Arts Center, 4100 13
Mile Road, in Novi.
Stern, a director at the Holocaust
Memorial Center in Farmington
Hills, was one of 10,000 Ritchie Boys,
mostly Jewish refugees that the U.S.
Army sent back into Germany to
infiltrate the Nazi effort. They were
trained at the Military Intelligence
Training Center in Maryland, known
then as Camp Ritchie.
Knowing the German language
and mentality, they were trained
in investigation and psychological
warfare. Their role was to work in the
front lines at interrogation, analyzing
German forces and plans and demor-
alizing the enemy.
