he Jewish Parents Institute
will host a b'nai mitzvah
celebration for eight stu-
dents at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14,
at the Jewish Community Center
of Metropolitan Detroit in West
Bloomfield.
The students becoming bar/
bat mitzvah are Scott Schaefer
of Southfield; Jack Cikra of West
Bloomfield; Nicholas Anderson,
Shawna Rollet and Gloria
Steinberg of Farmington Hills;

of Lesley and Tim
Cikra and brother to
Ashley, Evan, Harry
and Sofia, will cel-
ebrate his bar mitz-
vah at the Jewish
Community Center
Cikra
in West Bloomfield
on Saturday, May
14. Proud grandparents are Ken and
Nadine Berke.
Jack is a seventh-grade stu-
dent at Dunckel Middle School in
Farmington Hills. He had the privi-
lege of coaching a youth floor hockey
team at the JCC as a part of his mitz-
vah project.

Franklin Dobrusin
of Bloomfield Hills
will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitz-
vah on Friday, May
13, at Temple Shir
Shalom in West
Bloomfield. He is the
Dobrusin
son of Dr. Shari and
Eric Dobrusin and
brother of Jackson. He is the grand-
son of Dr. Joe and Linda Dobrusin,

Cameron Givens of Royal Oak;
Courtney Klerkx of Novi; and
Devon DeCaire of Milford.
Students combined a community-
related work project with a study of
the Torah and Talmud as they relate
to Jewish values. They visited the
Holocaust Memorial Center, and they
toured the Arab American National
Museum as part of their diversity
studies. Each student also wrote
a paper on a Jewish theme and a
speech to be delivered on May 14.

Rissman.
Franklin is a seventh-grade student
at Bloomfield Hills Middle School. He
participated in various mitzvah proj-
ects, including raising money for the
Jingle Bell Run for arthritis.

Madison DeRoven
Friedman will be
called to the Torah
as a bat mitzvah at
Temple Israel in
West Bloomfield
on Friday, May 13.
She is the daughter
Friedman
of Amy and Scott
Friedman and
sister of Chase and Amanda Fisher.
Sharing in the joy will be her proud
grandparents Drs. Sonya and Stephen
Friedman and Charlotte R. DeRoven.
Madison is also the granddaughter of
the late Dr. Marvin J. DeRoven.
Madison attends Detroit Country
Day Middle School in Beverly Hills.
Her most meaningful mitzvah project
was to assist children with cancer
in riding horseback as part of the
many Bottomless Toy Chest volunteer
activities.
