SIGMAN "SI" GLINER,
76, of Detroit, died
March 23, 2011, in
Colorado surrounded by
family.
He graduated from
Central High School
class of 1953. He was
Gliner
proud of his service
as a medic in the Navy
during the Korean War. As a young shoe
designer and store-owner, he designed
shoes worn by Smokey Robinson and the
Miracles. He was known in the commu-
nity as a prominent real estate broker and
mortgage banker.
Mr. Gliner was a 50s car fanatic and
never missed a Dream Cruise in his dove
gray '53 Ford Customline, known as "the
mistress". His grandchildren were the lights
of his life. Although he endured many hard-
ship and illness, his positive attitude and
zest for life were never ending. He will be
dearly missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Gliner is survived by his sister, Anne
Kessler of Farmington Hills; his twin
daughters, Arlynn and Ilynn; son, Stephen
Sutton, all of Evergreen, Colo.; daughter,
Jenna Wunder Stewart (Scott) of Ann
Arbor; daughter-in-law, Melissa Bornstein
of Apopka, Fla.; grandchildren, Rob and
Dana, Corey, Rachel, Blake, Ava, Alex,
Justin, Reid, Rebecca, Morgan, Madison,
Zachary, Jace and Levi.
He was the beloved husband of the late
Rhoda Gliner; the loving father of the late
Suzy and the late Tony Gliner.

Mrs. Goldman is survived by her son-

Allen Klegon; nephew, Shlomit Raz of Tel
Aviv; loving cousins, nieces and nephews
in Israel. She is also survived by Lori and
Bruce Epstein and other adoring friends.
Mrs. Goldman was the beloved wife for
over 50 years to the late Simon Goldman;
loving mother of the late Michael
Goldman.

LILLIAN TAYLOR GREENWALD, died
March 24, 2011, two weeks short of her
104th birthday.
She was born in 1907 in Cleveland,
Ohio. She earned an M.A. from Western
Reserve University and then married
Irving Greenwald and lived in Chicago,
where Irving studied optometry. The
couple moved to Kalamazoo, where Irving
practiced. On his death at 49 in 1955, Mrs.
Greenwald took a position as a psychiatric
social worker in the Livonia school sys-
tem. Retiring in 1972, she started another
career in tax accounting, retiring at the age
of 101 in 2008. At age 95, she expanded
her practice into international tax law.
Mrs. Greenwald is survived by her niec-
es, Betti Franceschi of New York, Elaine
Daniels of New Hope, Pa., Judy Greenwald
of Royal Oak; nephews, David Taylor
Schwartz of Lansdowne, Va., Paul Taylor of
Las Vegas, Nev., S. T. Taylor Jr. of Asheville,
N.C., David Greenwald of Detroit; her
beloved grandniece, Antonia Franceschi,
and her son Michael Franceschi of
London, England.

DONALD J. KATZ, 94, of West Bloomfield,
died March 27, 2011.
He was born in Detroit, the first of
the three children of Sarah and Izidor
Katz. Mr. Katz attended the University of
Michigan and Wayne State Law School. As
an officer in World War II, he served as a
captain in Patton's 3rd Army and was part
of the final push into Germany. His last
assignment before returning stateside was
as head of the Nuremberg motor pool for
the Nuremberg War Trials.
Upon returning home he joined his
father, Izido, and brother, Wilfred L. Katz,
in the fledgling John R. Lumber Company,
which later prospered and became a
respected member of the greater Detroit
business community.
He was a dedicated member of the
Rotary Foundation. He participated local-
ly, nationally and internationally in this
community service organization and was
awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship, honor-
ing him as an advocate of the Foundation's
goals of world peace and international
understanding.
Mr. Katz was a member and sup-
porter of B'nai B'rith and Technion; for
50-plus years, he was a member of Temple
Emanu-El and served on the board and as
an officer. For the past 15 years, he was a
member of Temple Kol Ami.
Mr. Katz is survived by his wife of 67
years, Bernice Katz; sons and daughter-
in-law, Bruce and Andrea Katz of West
Bloomfield, Steve Katz; grandchildren, Emily

Katz and fiance, Chris Magrin, Carly Katz;
sisters-in-law, Sydell Leebove and Toby
Berkower; nieces, nephews and loyal friends.
He was the loving brother of the
late Wilfred Katz and the late Marilyn
Kaufman; dear brother-in-law of the late
Bernice Katz, the late Sam Leebove and
the late Dr. Donald M. Berkower.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice. Arrangements by
Ira Kaufman Chapel.

ARLENE OBERMAN LERNER, 71, of
Vacaville, Calif., formerly of Oak Park, died
March 15, 2011.
She is survived by her husband, Sidney
Stumpf; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle
and Michael Corvello; granddaughter,
Samantha Corvello; sister and brother-in-
law, Rozzy and Abraham Friedman; nieces,
Marci Beadles, Stacey and Amy Oberman.
She was the daughter of the late Maurice
and the late Esther Oberman.

LEON LUTREN, 89, of Troy, died March
16, 2011.
He is survived by his sons, Dr. Marc Grant
of Phoenix, Ariz., Bruce Grant of Troy;
brother, Milton Lutren; grandchild, Courtney
Grant; great-grandchild, Elijah Danley.
Mr. Lutren was the beloved husband of the
late Molly Lutren and the late Sylvia Lutren;
loving brother of the late Dorothy Berman.

SOPHIE MIKON, 91, of Ferndale, died
March 21, 2011.
She is survived by her sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Arnold and Deena Mikon of
Huntington Woods, David Mikon and
Winky Cohen of California; daughter and
son-in-law, Carol and Rick Kaczander of
Oak Park; grandchildren, Brad Mikon,
Renee Mikon, Beth Mikon, Eric and Emily
Kaczander and Robbie Kaczander; sister,
Clare Chait of West Bloomfield; sister-in-
law, Ruth Korman; nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mikon was the beloved sister of the
late Sara Abramson and the late Morris
Korman; the dear sister-in-law of the late
Albert Chait and the late Milton Abramson;
the loving aunt of the late Fagel Reifler and
her husband, the late Don Reifler.
Interment at Beth El Memorial Park.
