erome "Jerry" Lapides,
died on Oct. 24, 2010, in
San Diego, Calif. He was 84
years young.
Jerry was co-owner
of the family business,
Osmun's men clothing
stores and John Kent
clothing stores, along
with his brother-in-
law, the late Norman
Wachter. He bought
all the clothing for the
retail chain. When he
retired, he moved to
San Diego to be closer Lapides
to his daughter Lori
and her young children.
Jerry was always "the life of the
party" He had a billion dollar per-
sonality, and his comic genius was
adored by all who knew him, recall
his daughters, Lisa Lapides Sawicki
and Lori Lapides Gritz. Lisa remem-
bers laughing so loud and hard from
her dad's antics that it would literally
"hurt her stomach:"
He relished sharing fun things
with his daughters all the time.
Whether it was a Frank Sinatra or
Sammy Davis Jr. concert, endless
Broadway shows and dining experi-
ences from the old Darbys in Detroit
to Tavern on the Green in New York
City. He left them with a legacy of
love and laughter that will be with

Jerry remained devoted to his
family and had a lust for life that was
unmatched. After being
diagnosed with lung can-
cer, he fought so hard to
stay alive and elected che-
motherapy to buy some
time.
He loved music, sports,
psychology, his friends and
fishing. He was a magical
person with such a passion
that was present for all of
his 84 years. His beautiful
spirit will remain present
with all who were lucky to
know him and love him.
Jerry Lapides is survived by
daughters, Lori Lapides Gritz and
Lisa Lapides Sawicki; son-in-law,
David Sawicki; grandchildren, Sean
Perkins, Eli and Daniel Gritz; sister,
Barbara Wachter; brother and sister-
in law, Gordon and Wendy Lapides.
He will be missed by his girlfriend,
Rosario Lucienta.
Jerry was the son of the late Abe
and the late Nellie Lapides and
brother-in-law of the late Norman
Wachter.
A memorial service is being

BEN FELDSTEIN,
98, of Southfield, died
Oct. 31, 2010.
For 50 years,
he was the owner
of Universal
Transmission
Company in Detroit.
Feldstein
Mr. Feldstein is
survived by his wife of 76 years, Jeanne
Feldstein; daughter, Lenore Diskin;
son and daughter-in-law, Robert and
Adrienne Feldstein; grandchildren,
Mark Diskin, Jon and Margie Diskin,
Jeffrey and Stacey Diskin, Jamie Diskin,
Tony Feldstein and Leslie Flagel; great-
grandchildren, Mearyl Diskin, Harrison
Diskin, Brittany Diskin, Alyssa Diskin,
Megan Diskin and Adam Flagel.
He was the last of six children of the
late Hyman and the late Rose Feldstein.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice. Arrangements
