DONALD "ZEYDE"
SHARFMAN, 80, of
West Bloomfield, died
Sept. 3, 2010.
He was a veteran of
the Korean War, where he
served as an accountant.
He was a graduate of
Sharfman
Wayne State University,
where he became a certified public accoun-
tant. He obtained a master's degree in taxa-
tion from Walsh College in the early 1990s.
For 57 years, Mr. Sharfman and his wife,
Rae Ann, shared a passion for Judaism,
Jewish communities and the State of
Israel. Mrs. Sharfman, a devout political
activist and philanthropist, had his con-
stant support and encouragement because
he, too, shared her passion and adored her.
Few words can appropriately describe the
type of man and character Mr. Sharfman
embodied and instilled in others. He placed
family first, above and beyond anything
else. Nothing was more important to him
and it drove him to participate in every
event in his children's and grandchildren's
lives. He was the ultimate role model.
In essence, "Zeyde" truly accomplished
everything a man would hope to achieve:
an adoring wife, loving children and
grandchildren, savvy skills in finance, his
constant mitzvot (good deeds) as well as a
sense of humor and openness to embrace
all. "Zeyde" lived life; he will be deeply
missed.
"Zeyde, we will love you forever; we will
like you for always, as long as we're living,
our Zeyde you'll be:' said his grandchil-
dren.
Mr. Sharfman was the beloved husband
of Rae Ann Sharfman; devoted father of
Saul and Valarie Sharfman and Dr. Andrea
Switch and Dr. Danny Fink; incredible
"Zeyde" to Stephanie, Jessica and Whitney
Switch, Jake, Ariel and Max Sharfman,
Sara, Leah, Ari, Michael and Nathan Fink.
He is also survived by his sister Pearl
Leinoff, many nieces and nephews; first
daughter-in-law, Randee Sharfman
