ALVIN WAGNER,
Wagner
85, of Troy, died
Sept. 4, 2010, at St.
John's Van Elslander
Cancer Center in
Detroit. He had been
battling Parkinson's
disease, kidney
disease and a brain
tumor.
Mr. Wagner was born to Henry
and Anne Wagner on Nov. 4,1924, in
Detroit.
He fought in World War II, where he
helped to liberate Buchenwald concen-
tration camp as a Jewish soldier of the
United States Army.
Mr. Wagner moved to St. Clair
Shores in 1954 and he turned his
father's amusement park into Jefferson
Beach Marina. It was once recognized
as the largest privately owned marina
in the world. He sold the marina in
1998.
Mr. Wagner owned and operated
other Detroit area amusement parks.
Among these were Edgewater Park,
Walled Lake Amusement Park. He also
owned the restaurant Brownies, which
was redesigned as the Beach Grill
located inside Jefferson Beach Marina.
As an owner of a marina, he made
his fondest hobby boating, and the
majority of his life he resided on one
of his many yachts docked either
at Jefferson Beach Marina or in Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla., where he spent his
winters.
Mr. Wagner was a quiet, yet power-
ful man whose love and passion for
boats and beautiful weather was sur-
passed by his passion for his family.
He is survived by his son and
daughter-in-law, Jerry and Molly
Wagner; daughters and sons-in-law,
Vicki and Bruce Mansfield, Lisa and
Wayne Karbal, Carole Wagner; grand-
children, Abbey Mansfield, Aaron
Wagner, Rachel Mansfield, Alexander
Wagner, Ari Wagner, Jordan Karbal
and Ian Karbal; sisters, Geraldine
Granet and Lois Benson.
Mr. Wagner was the dear brother of
the late Milton Wagner and the late
Cyril Wagner.
Interment at Clover Hill Park

EMIL WOLOK, 91,
of Oak Park, died
Aug. 29, 2010.
He was a speech
pathologist for
the Detroit Public
Schools. He also had
an office practice for
Wolok
some years.
As a member of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, he chaired the educa-
tion sub-committee that established
an education program for nursery
school through high school for its
religious school. He was also a mem-
ber of Adat Shalom Synagogue for
44 years, attending services weekly;
and he served on the Adult Study
Committee.
Mr. Wolok held leadership posi-
tions for PNAI (Parents of North
American Israelis) and the Institute
for Retired Professionals. He was a
devoted husband and father, a loyal
and observant Jew, a fervent Zionist
and grateful American.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Rose Shoshana Wolok; sons and
daughters-in-law, Dr. Philip and Fran
Wolok of Bloomfield Hills, Dr. Davin
and Carol Wolok of Brookline, Mass.;
daughter and son-in-law, Deborah
and Dr. Allan Levi of Jerusalem,
Israel; grandchildren, Haggai Levi,
Leah (Guy) Avital, Sara (Alon) Tirosh,
Eric Wolok, Lauren Wolok, Rina
Wolok; great-grandchildren, Eyal
Avital and Ariel Avital.
Interment at the Adat Shalom
Memorial Park in Livonia.
Contributions may be made to Adat
Shalom Synagogue, to the Jewish
National Fund or to a charity of one's
choice. Arrangements by Dorfman
Chapel.
KATHRYNE YAFFE, 92, of West
Bloomfield, died Aug. 28, 2010.
She is survived by her daughter
and son-in-law, Diane and Joel Fink
of Commerce Township; grandchil-
dren, Jeffrey Fink, Ronald Fink, Lisa
and Mark Kent; great-grandchildren,
Ariel Fink, Rachel Kent, Max Kent,
Carly Kent.
Mrs. Yaffe was the beloved wife
of the late Allen David Yaffe and the
beloved sister of the late Ben Krowitz,
the late Morris Krowitz and the late
Harry Krowitz.
Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice. Services and
interment at Hebrew Memorial Park
in Clinton Township. Arrangements
by Hebrew Memorial Chapel.
