LIVING
In Pursuit Of Wow!
JCC names new camp director.
"I USED TO WONDER IF MOM WAS LONELY;
NOW SHE HAS MORE FRIENDS THAN I DO."
a
fyour mom lives by herself, it's only natural to worry
about her during the course of your day.
Help quiet your worries by looking into senior living at
The Park at Trowbridge. Many seniors are energized with
a whole new zest for life as they socialize with people their
own age, people they can relate to.
Tal Siegmann and his son, Amit
T
he Jewish Community Center
of Metropolitan Detroit has
hired Tal Siegmann as the
new director of Center Day Camps,
based in West Bloomfield.
Siegmann, of Oak Park, has an
extensive history in camping, includ-
ing serving as assistant director of
the Grand Resort Family Camp in
Cheboygan in 2003 and 2004 and with
the Jewish Community Center camps
in Columbus, Ohio.
A professional
woodworker, he also
served as artist-in-
residence at Oakland
County-based
Tamarack Camps
and as artist-in-
the-schools for the
Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit's
Alliance for Jewish
Education.
Siegmann, who has
three children, says
his goal with Center
Day Camps is to pro-
vide campers with a
"Wow!' experience.
"I want every child to go home and
count the hours until he or she gets
back to camp',' Siegmann said.
Siegmann wants to focus on conti-
nuity. "Children should look forward
to returning to camp every year as
campers, then as leaders in training,
as junior counselors and finally as
staff;' he said.
"Camp is an amazing place, like
nowhere else on earth, and I want to
make certain that each child has a
chance to experience that"
The Israel native holds a bachelor
of arts degree from Tel Aviv University
and a doctor of veterinary medicine
degree from Ohio State University. A
former lieutenant in the Israel Defense
Forces, he worked as a counselor for
children with special needs in Ohio and
as a guest teacher at the Marc Adams
School of Woodworking in Indiana.
"Tal's enthusiasm,
energy and strong
desire for excellence
are already evident in
the short time he has
been here said Dave
Stone, JCC associate
executive director.
Judah Isaacs
is director of
Federation's Alliance
for Jewish Education
which, along with
the Fresh Air Society,
supervised the Grand
- Tal Sieqmann Resort Family Camp.
As assistant direc-
tor of the Family Camp, Siegmann
was involved in all the intricacies
of camp life, from making families
feel welcome and pampered to mak-
ing sure the plumbing was working,
•
Isaacs said.
"His experience at the Grand
Resort will help the Center Day
Camps continue its long legacy of
premier camping for the families of
our community:' Isaacs said. El
"I want every
child to go home
and count the
hours until he or
she gets back to
camp."
She'll be too busy rediscovering some of the things she
loves to do, like exploring the Detroit Institute of Arts,
shopping at the Somerset Collection or taking in a movie at
the Palladium. And you'll feel good, too, knowing that your
mom is safe and happy.
See for yourself why seniors living at The Park at
Trowbridge experience an invigorating sense of
independence, freedom and optimism.
