nity leaders Eugene Applebaum
and Roger Penske at 6:30 p.m.

Center in West
Bloomfield.

ming at the JCC.

Applebaum
and Penske will
be honored
with the JCC's
Boneh Kehillah
(Builder of the
Community)
Roger Penske
Award for their
philanthropy to
the Jewish com-
munity and Southeast Michigan.
In 1998, Applebaum contrib-
uted the largest individual gift
in the history of Wayne State
University, used to build a new
home for the university's College
of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
Applebaum also established
a chair at the University of
Michigan Business School.
In 1999, Eugene and his wife,
Marcia, announced the largest
capital gift in the history of Metro
Detroit's Jewish community, to be
used to expand and beautify the
195-acre West Bloomfield Jewish
Community Campus.
Penske has been active in
major initiatives that benefit
Detroit and the region. He is a
member of Business Leaders
for Michigan, chaired the host
committee for Super Bowl XL,
is a proponent of the M-1 RAIL
project and chairs the Downtown
Detroit Partnership.
In addition to cocktails, hors
d'oeuvres and a presentation, the
evening will include musical per-
formances by Cantors Dan Gross,
Rachel Kalmowitz and Michael
Smolash, with a guest appearance
by vocalist Lauren Gross.
