Chanukah was around the corner
and Passover not long after. What
might be done to offer support for
Jewish service members?
Thus began the local initiative led
by Wells Fargo Advisors' Farmington
Hills office. It was joined by the
Jewish War Veterans, University
of Michigan Hillel, Adat Shalom
Synagogue's Beth Achim Religious
School and Boy Scout Troop 364. The

With the cooperation of the Jewish
Chaplains Council as well as Jewish
War Veterans national offices, the
first steps were taken to assist in
contacting Jewish chaplains as
well as individual Jewish service
members. That effort initially put
hundreds of Happy Chanukah cards
into the hands of Jewish American
soldiers serving overseas.
With the support of Wells Fargo
Advisors-Farmington Hills, hun-
dreds of Happy Passover cards were
printed on Jan. 1. They were to be
written by Wells Fargo team mem-
bers and clients as well as support-
ing organizations with the goal of
having them in the hands of Jewish
soldiers by Passover. That drive
grew into a major program of ship-
ping needed supplies and telephone
cards as well as the greeting cards to
Jewish chaplains conducting seders
at bases overseas.
Allen Olender and Richard
O'Connell coordinated the effort at
Wells Fargo. Teddie Olender worked
