b'not mitzvah on Saturday, April 17,
at Congregation Shaarey Zedek
West Bloomfield, B'nai Israel
Center. They are the daughters
of Carilyn and Steven Gabel and
the sisters of Jaclyn and Aaron.
Grandparents are Brenda and
Charles Fantich of Commerce
Township, Morris and Mya Gabel of
Lincolnshire, Ill., and Gerald and
Rita Cutcher of Farmington Hills.
The girls attend Geisler Middle
School in Walled Lake. Among their
mitzvah projects, they delivered gifts
on Mitzvah Day, which was spon-
sored by the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit.

Finsilver. Jacob is also the grandson
of the late Joyce Jackson. His joy is
further shared with his two great-
grandmothers, Mrs. Devora Finsilver
and Mrs. Helene Leib.
Jacob is a student at Clifford
Smart Middle School in Commerce
Township. As one mitzvah proj-
ect, he helped feed the homeless
on Christmas Day at St. Patrick's
Church in Detroit.

Donating funds to the Holocaust
Memorial Center in Farmington
Hills in memory of his mother was
the mitzvah project he felt had the
most meaning to him.

Ashley Rachael
Karbal recently
celebrated her bat
mitzvah Saturday,
March 27, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek
Southfield. She
Karbal
is the daughter
of Monica Karbal
Goodwin and Steven
Karbal. Ashley's
siblings, Alana Karbal and Karlee
Goodwin, along with her stepfather,
Scott Goodwin, participated in her
simchah. Ashley is the granddaugh-
ter of Sharon Hope and Samuel Katz
of Bloomfield Hills and Rosemarie
Karbal, also of Bloomfield Hills, and
the late Seymour Karbal.
Ashley is a seventh-grader at West
Hills Middle School in Bloomfield
Hills. Her most memorable mitzvah
project was volunteering her time
at the Holocaust Memorial Center
in Farmington Hills in honor of her
grandfather's family who died in the
Holocaust.
