Donating funds to the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills in memory of his mother was the mitzvah project he felt had the most meaning to him. Ashley Rachael Karbal recently celebrated her bat mitzvah Saturday, March 27, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek Southfield. She Karbal is the daughter of Monica Karbal Goodwin and Steven Karbal. Ashley's siblings, Alana Karbal and Karlee Goodwin, along with her stepfather, Scott Goodwin, participated in her simchah. Ashley is the granddaugh- ter of Sharon Hope and Samuel Katz of Bloomfield Hills and Rosemarie Karbal, also of Bloomfield Hills, and the late Seymour Karbal. Ashley is a seventh-grader at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. Her most memorable mitzvah project was volunteering her time at the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills in honor of her grandfather's family who died in the Holocaust.
