Jewish teens who were very unhappy,
suffering from very powerful and con-
fusing inner turbulence. It's amazing
how the power of song can bring peo-
ple back to their roots and help them
see clearly the direction they need to
take in their lives. They all committed
to something — no drugs, or keeping
Shabbat, or getting back in touch with
their families. Hearing their commit-
ments after the concert made me real-
ize that it is my calling, my shlichut,
to travel the world sharing my songs
with people who want to hear them
and sing along.
Another beautiful memory is of a
Shabbaton for 350 divorced or wid-
owed mothers — to encourage and
strengthen them as they raise their
children alone. Saturday night I put on
a concert for them. I usually perform 1
to 1 1/2 hours. We went on for four solid
hours, singing and dancing until we
just couldn't anymore! Overwhelmed,
depressed women came over to me
and told me how much joy and energy
I'd brought into their lives. I thank
God I was able to help them with the
gift He has given me. El
