a 20 x 29-inch finished product. "This
is great for families who want to do
something together — in more than
one sitting;' says Avrom Borenstein
of Borenstein's Book and Music
Store. The Jewish Museum Mizrah:
Decoration for the Eastern Wall
(Issael Dov Rosenbaum Jigsaw Puzzles
by Pomegranate) is an intricate 19th-
century Ukrainian design that depicts
a mizrah, a decorative plaque tradi-
tionally placed on the eastern wall of
a home or synagogue to indicate the
direction of Jerusalem, toward which
Jews face while praying. $17.95.

In addition to creating custom baskets and
gift platters, Got Nosh? in Southfield offers its
items in bulk for fun, family snacking. "You
can scoop your own quantities of candy, nuts,
dried fruit and chocolates straight from our
display bins as well as our gourmet chocolate-
covered pretzels from our display boxes," says
owner Adina Morris. She even suggests playing
a game of dreidel using jellybeans instead of
the traditional pennies. Snack selections range
from decadent cordials and truffles to sugar-
free items and novelty treats like nut-covered
candied apples. "Having a sweet treat always gives an added dimension to
family gatherings and traditions," Morris said. Got Nosh? is Michigan's only
kosher, pareve retail store supervised by the Council of Orthodox Rabbis of
Greater Detroit. Cost is per item or by weight.

Popped Fun
Adding excitement to its snack food with flavors like cookies 'n' creme,
backyard BBQ, North Country ched-
dar, peanut butter and white chocolate
drizzle is Dale and Thomas Popcorn. Much
of its business may go to gift-seekers,
shopping for fancy popcorn-filled tins
and specialty items, but the regular
shopper can stock up for fun family
consumption, too. "Our popcorn is also
sold by the bag, which is about five
cups of popcorn, and by the bag-and-a-half, which is about 8-9 cups," says
Aron Spengler, shift manager at Dale and Thomas' Royal Oak store. "And
customers can sample the popcorn before they buy it." Both of Michigan's
Dale and Thomas stores are supervised by the Council of Orthodox Rabbis
of Greater Detroit; products, certified as kosher, OU-dairy, also may be pur-
chased on the company Web site. Prices start at $3.55 per bag.
