Free Range
We think nothing of driving
half an hour to a good restaurant,
but we'll settle for a hospital
that's right around the corner.
Turkey prices are
all over the map.
As long as your health insurance allows you to go
anywhere, maybe you shouldn't confine yourself to
the neighborhood.

Because this isn't dinner, this is your life.
Year after year, the people of Southeast Michigan have
rated Beaumont as their most preferred hospital. Most
preferred for surgery and for overall quality of care.
Do you have a Beaumont doctor?
S
ukkot might be the Jewish
Thanksgiving, but many
Jews look forward to secu-
lar Thanksgiving as well, as a time
for family. And don't forget that
Thanksgiving turkey.
A check of local stores on Monday
found a range of prices for kosher tur-
keys for the holiday.
Harvard Row Kosher Meats in West
Bloomfield had fresh, whole turkeys
at $3.49 per pound. Hiller's Market in
West Bloomfield had both fresh and
frozen birds for $2.99.
Costco in Commerce had no whole
birds; frozen turkey breast was $2.66.
The Meijer store on Haggerty Road
had frozen Empire turkeys at $2.79 per
pound, but discounted $8 or $16 off
the price, depending on the size.
The Kroger on Haggerty had Kosher
Valley turkeys at $2.49.
Last week, Trader Joe's in Royal Oak
and Farmington Hills had organic,
free-range, kosher turkeys for $2.29
per pound.
If you live miles from any kosher
outlet, however, Costco has a deal you
might consider. An organic, free-range,
kosher bird, minimum 14 pounds,
will be shipped to you for $90, which
includes UPS shipping (second-day air,
estimated delivery five days from day of
order). I I
