T

he Bronfman Youth
Fellowships in Israel (BYFI)
has opened registration for its
24th summer program.
The fellowships send 26 North
American teenagers to Israel for five
weeks of intellectually engaging sum-
mer study during which they experi-
ence a shared sense of Jewish com-
munity.
The program educates and inspires
young Jews from diverse backgrounds
to become active participants and lead-
ers in Jewish culture throughout their
lives and to contribute their talents and

The program was founded by Edgar
M. Bronfman and is funded by the
Samuel Bronfman Foundation, which
focuses on projects dedicated to foster-
ing a Jewish renaissance. The founda-
tion is a major supporter of Hillel:
The Foundation for Campus Jewish
Life, the Curriculum Initiative and
MyJewishLearning. corn
Applications for the 2010 fellowship
are available online at www.bronfrnan.
org and must be submitted online by
Jan. 20. American and Canadian high
school students who will be in the 12th
grade in the fall of 2010 may apply. ri

is a consultant to the U.S. Holocaust
Memorial Museum, Washington.
Father Pawlikowski is a professor of
social ethics at the Catholic Theological
Union in Chicago and director of its
Catholic-Jewish Studies Program. He is a
founding member of the U.S. Holocaust
Memorial Council and chairs the
council's subcommittee on church rela-
tions. He is a member of the Advisory
Committee on Catholic-Jewish Relations
of the United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops.
The dialogue will be introduced
by EMU's new provost, Jack Kay, and
will be moderated by English and
Judaic Studies Professor Martin B.
