MIRIAM BEN NACHUM, 84, former
Detroiter of Kibbutz Ein Dor, Israel,
died Oct. 24, 2009.
Miriam and her late husband,
Dovid, were Israeli pioneers. It was
illegal to enter Israel when she and
Dovid made aliyah from Detroit in
1947. They bought tickets to vacation
in Greece and jumped ship in Haifa
harbor with son Danny with only the
shirts on their backs and Danny's baby
bottle. They helped build the kibbutz
from absolutely nothing.
Miriam was a secretary for the
British before the State of Israel was
created in 1948 and smuggled maps
and important papers to the Haganah.
The daughter of the late Louis and
Eva Levine, Miriam is survived by her
daughters and sons-in-law, Rachaeli
and Udi Anafi, Talia and Uri Shooval;
sons and daughters-in-law, Doniel
and Tzila, Elisha and Roni, Yizhar
and Judy; 15 grandchildren; one
great-grandson; sisters, Cecelia (the
late Ben) Pivoz, Freda (the late Leon)
Weberman, Phyllis (Nathan) Stone;
brothers, Michael (Shelia) Levine,
Barry (Patricia) Levine; many lov-
ing nephews and nieces. Interment at
Kibbutz Ein Dor cemetery.
SEYMOUR HAROLD NEUMAN, for-
merly of Farmington Hills, died Oct.
11, 2009, in South Florida.
He is survived by his loving wife of
over 65 years, Sarah; adoring children,
Linda and Robert Schmier, Steven
Neuman; cherished grandchildren,
Shelly and Brian, Neal and Callie,
Brian and Jamie, Brad, and lauren;
great-grandchildren, Josh, Lexie,
Marianna and Jake; sister, Norma
Bisgeier; brother and sister-in-law,
Dr. Phillip and Sally Neuman; many
nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late
Marlene Budman and the late Robert
Budman; brother-in-law of the late Dr.
Benjamin Bisgeier.

Bloomfield, died Oct. 23, 2009. He
was a clinical psychologist and Dana
Scholar.
Dr. Ostro is survived by his wife,
Judy Ostro; son, Jason Ostro of Los
Angeles; daughter and son-in-law,
Jordana "Jodi" and Bryan Hemberg of
Maryland; brother and sister-in-law,
Bart and Linda Ostro of California;
other loving relatives and friends.

WILBERT PASTOR, 82, of West
Bloomfield, died Oct. 20, 2009.
He is survived by his beloved wife,

and Suzette Repitor of Waterford;
grandchildren, Lindsay, Chelsea, Hayle,
Jacoba and Chris Jr.; sister-in-law,

BRUCE PEARLMAN, 60, of Beverly
Hills, died Oct. 20, 2009.
He was a chemist at Schering-
Plough and was formerly employed
with Upjohn-Pfizer. Mr. Pearlman had
34 pharmaceutical patents which are
in our daily use of products. He loved
his work and golf and made life better
for all of us.
Mr. Pearlman is survived by his
parents, Jack and Betty Pearlman of
Arizona; brothers and sister-in-law,
Milton "Hal" Pearlman of Illinois, Dr.
Ralph and Karen Pearlman of Beverly
Hills; sister, Nancy Joyce Eckhouse
of California; niece and nephews,
