Here's more on the Bloomfield
Township-based Anti-Defamation
League's six honorees:

• Gary Gilbert grew up in Southfield.
He is the founder and president of
Gilbert Films, a Los Angeles-based
production company. He produced
Garden State, Meet Monica Velour,
Henry Poole is Here and Margaret.
His film, The Kids Are All Right is
due out in 2010.

• Michael Binder is a Detroit native
who attended Camp Tamakwa, which
was the basis for his 1993 film
Indian Summer. He has written and
directed several Detroit-based mov-
ies, including Crossing The Bridge
and The Upside of Anger. Other
credits include Man About Town with
Ben Affleck and Reign Over Me with
Adam Sandler.

• Harry Winer grew up in Detroit
and graduated from the University
of Michigan. He has directed fea-
ture films, including Space Camp
and House Arrest, and directed and
produced more than 20 films for
television.

• Harvey Grace has more than 40
years of experience in radio and
television production, programming
and consulting. He is an entrepre-
neur, corporate executive and pri-
vate investor.

• Bob Brown currently lives in
Farmington Hills. He is the manag-
ing partner of Purple Rose Films, an
independent film company he runs
with Chelsea native Jeff Daniels. In
2000, they produced their first fea-
ture film Escanaba in Da Moonlight.

• Selma Blair grew up in Southfield.
Her breakout role was with Reese

Cruel Intentions. Other film credits
include Legally Blonde, The Sweetest
Thing and Hellboy. Blair also starred
for two seasons as the title charac-
ter in the Warner Brothers' TV show
Zoe. El
