ome 85 women gathered last
month at Tru Bliss Salon on
Northwestern Highway in
Farmington Hills for an afternoon of
lunch, canasta and bridge — all to
benefit the first "Cards Conquering
Cancer" event.
The local business community also
lent a hand as more than 50 mer-
chants donated door prizes.
Sponsors of the fundraiser were Joe
Boyi and Linda Yono, owners of Tru
Bliss Salon. Co-sponsors were Renee
Ishbia of Orchard Lake and Vera Gell
of Franklin.

of Farmington Hills and Irene Landau
of Bloomfield Hills in their personal
fight to conquer cancer. All of the pro-
ceeds from the afternoon went to the
team "Spindle's Crew," an American
Cancer Society Relay for Life team.
Kari DeCarlo, community represen-
tative for the American Cancer Society
and Caryn Jaeger of Farmington Hills
spoke about the ACS' third Cancer
Prevention Study, created to help
determine lifestyle, environmental and
genetic factors that cause or prevent
cancer.
