L

ast fall, while Michigan reeled
from the spiraling economy
and the toll it took on its resi-
dents' ability to pay their healthcare
bills, five local pharmaceutical execu-
tives came up with a way to ease this
growing burden.
"Being so intimately involved
with the pharmacy marketplace, we
all knew that switching to generic
medications is a quick and easy way
to cut healthcare costs without sacri-
ficing the quality of care said Bruce
Liebowitz, acting chief operating offi-
cer of Medtipster.
"The problem was, there were
so many different discount generic
drug programs, it was confusing for
customers to figure out if their drugs
were available on a discount generic
drug list, and where they could pur-
chase them locally. We wanted to cre-
ate a single resource where customers
could find this information quickly

and easily."
Liebowitz brainstormed with Gerald
Borsand, R.Ph.; Sue Ann Syoen, R.Ph.;
Jeff Polter and Jonathan Borsand, and
by January, Medtipster was born. On
medtipster.com, consumers can find
prescription drugs available on dis-
count generic programs, and where
they can find them right in their own
neighborhoods. All they have to do is
type in the name of their drug, their
dosage and zip code — they can even
search by medical condition. Many of
these drugs are available for as little as
$4, or even less. Consumers can also
find information on mini-clinics, and
where they can get immunizations and
flu shots locally.
"The vast majority of all medi-
cal conditions can be treated with
drugs included on one of the discount
generic drug programs available on
medtipster.com ,"Liebowitz added.
