SYLVIA WEIDER
AMBER, 87, passed
away peacefully April
23, 2009, in her daugh-
ter's home with her
children at her side.

Amber, passed away
c. 1985
just short of a year ago.
Her extended fam-
ily worked, celebrated and socialized
together. They gathered every Sunday in
Detroit at the home of her late mother,
Fannie Weider.
Mrs. Amber was a loving and gener-
ous wife and mother. She obtained her
greatest pleasure from family, saying her
happiest times were raising her children
and in recent decades taking delight
from her nine grandchildren.
A cornerstone of family life was the
"store" where she worked from child-
hood until retirement. She devoted her
talents and business acumen as Weider
Hardware Distributors' wholesale hard-
ware buyer and business executive.
Mrs. Amber is survived by her chil-
dren, Benjamin (Rachael) Amber of
East Lansing, Rhonda Amber (Jonathan
Licht) of San Diego, Betty Amber of San
Diego; brother, Morris (Ida) Weider;
sister, Lillian Sarver, both in the Detroit
area; grandchildren Troy (Carole), who
are the parents of 14-month-old great-
grandson TJ, who passed away earlier
this month, Eva (Wilson), Jason, Rosalie,
Alexander, Sarah, Efron, Jacob, and
Evan.

EVELEEN "EVY" BUDNITZKY, 82, of
Farmington Hills, died April 24, 2009.
A retired accountant, she was an
active member and past officer of
Hadassah and the Jewish Historical
Society. She was also a docent for the
Detroit Institute of Arts and was an
active member of the University of
Michigan Alumni Association.
Mrs. Budnitzky is survived by her sis-
ter-in-law, Lois Budman of Bloomfield
Hills; nieces and nephews, Mary Lou
and Robert Labe of West Bloomfield,
Elizabeth and Paul McKenney of
Huntington Woods; great-nieces and a
great-nephew, Bridget and Katie Labe,
Mordchai and Tova McKenney and
Sarah McKenney; great-great-nephew,
Hillel McKenney; survived by many dear
friends.
She was the devoted daughter of
the late Sarah and the late Joseph
Budnitzky; dear sister of the late Martin
Budman.

ADELYNE COHEN, 84, of Farmington
Hills, died April 22, 2009.
She is survived by her nieces and
nephew, Dr. Rick (Risa) DeRoven, Carol
Cohen and Linda Gold.
Mrs. Cohen was the beloved wife of
the late Nathan Cohen; sister of the late
Helen DeRoven.

HOWARD S. COVENSKY, 67, former
Detroiter of Columbus, Ohio, died April
26, 2009.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force
(1966-1970), earned a master's in health
administration from Georgia State
University, was a nursing home admin-
istrator for 27 years and was a Fellow in
the American College of Nursing Home
Administrators (FACHCA). He was also
a lifelong avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Mr. Covensky is survived by his wife,
Susan; daughter, Rachel (Scott) Botkin;
grandsons, Ethan and Michael Botkin;
sister, Judy (Ben) Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his par-
ents, Esther and Max Covensky.
Services were held at the Epstein
Memorial Chapel. Interment at New

ELAINE EICHEL, 100, former Detroiter
of Palm Springs, Calif. died April 21,
2009.
She retired from 3-M Company after
35 years as a secretary. She was a life
member of Hadassah and the sisterhood
of Temple Isaiah and was a volunteer
at Desert Regional Medical Center gift
shop for 15 years.
Mrs. Eichel is survived by a sister, a
brother, nieces and nephews.
She was the wife of the late Arthur;
sister of the late Birdie August, the late
Tillie Wolf, the late Lois Dolezel, the late
Frances Niedrich, the late Nate Glenner
and the late Sam Glenner.
A private graveside service was held.

ager for Winkleman's
Department Store,
she then joined her
Fleischman
husband in the Arthur
Fleischman Carpet
and Linoleum Company. She was also
an active American Wing Docent at the
Detroit Institute of Arts.
Mrs. Fleischman is survived by her
