in the modern
gothic thriller
The Uninvited,
which opens
Friday, Jan. 30.
As the movie
Elizabeth
opens, Anna
Banks
(Emily Browing,
20) returns home
from a psychiatric facility to find
that her father (David Strathairn)
has wed Rachel (Banks), her late
mother's former nurse. Then,
Anna's mother's ghost appears
and warns Anna that the nurse
has evil intentions. Anna enlists
her sister (Arielle Kebbel, 20) to
get the proof about Rachel's bad-
ness.
Banks, a Jew-by-choice, was
just named to Askmen.com's very
popular annual
list of the "99
most desirable
women," in the
No. 95 spot. The
list is heavy with
fashion models,
but about a
quarter of the
Bar Refaeli
"most desirable"
are actresses.
Included are Jewish thespians
Scarlett Johansson, 24 (No. 7);
Emmanuelle Chriqui, 31 (No.12);
Mila Kunis, 25 (No. 27); and Isla
Fisher, 32 (No. 31). Model and
Dancing with the Stars champ
Brooke Burke, 37, is No. 93 on the
list, and Israeli supermodel Bar
Refaeli, 23, in the No. 34 spot. _

in an on-and-off romantic relation-
ship with Leonardo DiCaprio. Prior

flashback scenes, the soft, winsome
Ludivine Sagnier shines as Hannah.

of intellect and emotion, drawing the

Charvet found more mature com-
pany with Brooke Burke; they've
been engaged for three years and
have two children together.

Finally
Isla Fisher is not only desirable;
she has finally made it clear
that she is "kosher" as well. The
Australian actress (The Wedding
Crashers) and British Jewish
comic actor Sacha Baron Cohen
have been a couple since 2000
and have been engaged for about
five years. In October 2007, Fisher
gave birth to the couple's daugh-
ter, Olive.
For years now,
Fisher has report-
edly been study-
ing to convert
under Orthodox
auspices. But the
status of her con-
version has been
Isla Fisher
the subject of
conflicting media
reports. Fisher
finally clarified matters in the
February issue of Allure magazine:
"I converted as of two years
ago. It is always reported that I
am still studying, so I am either
the slowest studier in the world;
or I have, in fact, converted. I
never saw it as a losing or gaining
situation, just an embracing situ-
ation. I think if one wanted to be
buried next to one's beloved and
they were Jewish, then one would
have to be Jewish, too."
Fisher added that she took the
Hebrew name Ayala ("doe"). It
appears that her conversion was
completed before Olive's birth.
Fisher promises in the Allure
piece and in another interview
that she and Baron Cohen will
really, truly, set a wedding date
soon.

last 30 seconds, it abruptly becomes a
message movie, to chilling effect.
As good as the film is to that point,
it's the closing sequence that propels A
Secret into the canon of great movies
about the Holocaust. I:
