rimary and metastatic liver
cancer patients at the Barbara
Ann Karmanos Cancer Center
in Detroit could be candidates for a
new, technologically advanced treat-
ment option that effectively destroys
cancer cells in the soft tissue.
Covidien's Evident
Microwave Ablation
System is available
in Michigan only
at the Karmanos
Cancer Center.
Karmanos was one
of the first hospi-
tals in the world to
acquire this power-
ful new tool last
April.

is not curable with surgery or for
patients awaiting transplantation.
Microwave ablation is a major tech-

gists, hepatobiliary surgeons and other
medical specialists to perform percu-

soft tissue ablation.

Microwave energy emanates from an
antenna-like device that causes the
cancerous tissue to coagulate or liq-
uefy. The microwave ablation system
