The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit's Center Fitness has
just completed a new cookbook, Our Best Recipes, with delicious ideas for
everything from nuts to soup and, most important, delectable sweets like
marshmallow brownies.
It's the second cookbook in the club's history. The first, published in 1992,

Cheri Victor. "Since those cookbooks are no longer available and we are
always sharing recipes in our health club, it just seemed like the right time."
The women began soliciting recipes last April; contributors sent in more
than 600, which volunteers categorized and edited. Yes, there were plenty

of healthy recipes (this is, after all, a collection from a health club), but also
"fun recipes, traditional recipes" and a few from celebrities, Victor says.

over 250 contributors. I was thrilled at how many women were excited about

"There is something unique about a cookbook where our community con-
