Larry
Deitch

U of M REGENT

www. LarryDeitchForRegent. corn

Larry Deitch is a principled and progressive leader who is there when it counts for our
community.

In addition to serving as a Regent, Larry was a member of the Michigan Civil Service
Commission and the Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission on Welfare Reform, and
was President of Temple Beth El.

Larry has worked tirelessly to keep the University of Michigan our nation's finest public
university - one that maintains the highest academic standards while remaining
open, accessible and egalitarian.

The University has gone from strength to greater strength during Larry's tenure. He
has played a critical leadership role on issues that matter:

• Fighting successfully against repeated attempts to have the University divest
its investments in Israel.

• Ensuring the long-term independence of the U of M Medical Center and
creating the Life Sciences Institute to position our state and the University in
the forefront of life sciences.

• Increasing financial aid and keeping tuition as low as possible.

• Speaking out forcefully against wasteful spending.
