Venture beyond the shopping behe-
moth, though, and you'll find some
pretty great, well ... finds.
For example, comic book collectors
and pop culture fans of any age can
pass the time in Comic City (43538
W. Oaks Dr., 248-449-7114), while the
tween and teen set clamors for the new-
est trends, smartly priced, from Justice
(43526 W. Oaks Dr., 248-374-8024), or
Plato's Closet (43440 W. Oaks Dr., 248-
374-8075), where the clothing is gently
used, but no less "of-the-moment"
and the prices are gentle on the allow-
ance. And when this economically, but
no less fashionable, crowd gets a bit
older, they'll most likely be rewarded
with impressive bargains from Smart
Chick's Consignment (43039 Grand
River, 248-347-1600). Another good
source is Consignment Clothiers
(42937 W. Seven Mile Rd., 248-347-
4570), featuring clothes by Ralph
Lauren, Karen Kane, Juicy Couture,
BCBG, Dana Buchman, Prada, St. John
and many more.
Conservative or trendy, and every-
where in between, downtown Northville
is becoming known among fashionistas
for its expanding collection of bou-
tiques. Among the favorites are Urban
Blues (114 W. Main St., 248-344-9000)
for the latest in denim; women's con-
temporary fashions and accessories
at Van Dam's (111E. Main St., 248-
449-4282); high-styled garments for
ladies from Rococo (126 W. Main St.,
248-449-8066); plus fine lingerie at the
European-inspired La Corseterie (123
E. Main St., 248-449-6603); and the
menswear collections at Fine Threads
(105 E. Main St., 248-349-5097) or
Alexander's of Northville (124 W.
Main St., 248-349-6080).
More choices include the clas-
sic looks for ladies and gents from
Pendleton Shop (117 N. Center, 248-
596-9820) and the women's shoes and
accessories at Lorla (142 N. Center St.,

248-348-9270).
Shopping for home accessories or
gifts means making a pass through
Pear-aphernalia (184 E. Main St.,
248-596-1430) or Tutto Home (141 N.
Center St., #102, 248-348-8886), creat-
ing something special at do-it-yourself
pottery shop The Bee's Knees (141
E. Main St., 248-347-6718) or explor-
ing the trove of kitchen gadgets and
cookbooks at Scottie's Kitchen (149
N. Center, 248-344-7990).
Also worth stopping by are book-
store As the Page Turns (149 N.
Center St., #102, 248-912-0085);
Sincerely Yours (43155 Main St.,
#210 248-449-9020) for invitations,
stationery and gifts; and the 75-year-
old Orin Jewelers (101 E. Main St.,
248-349-6940); plus one of the Metro
area's — if not its only — Japanese
entertainment stores, Mirai (42705-B
Grand River, 248-374-3200), which
has everything for the Anime enthu-
siast, as well as large selections of
books, comics and movies.
Downtown Northville has not one
but two independently owned bicycle
stores: D & D Bikes (121 N. Center,
248-347-1511), and Town & Country
Bike & Boards (148 N. Center, 248-
349-7140).
Of course, the little ones can be sure
of looking good when shopping at
Moon and Me (116 E. Main St., 248-
344-1014), Baby Bliss (112 E. Main
St., 248-344-0001), Goody Two Shoes
(124 E. Main St., 248-465-0900) and
Baby Baby (153 E. Main St., 248-347-
2229), while moms-to-be are sure to
keep up on the latest fashion trends
with finds from Belli Couture (133 W.
Main St., 248-344-2840).
Even the furry members of the fam-
ily have Paws Total Pet Studio (102
E. Main St., 248-449-4600) for organic
and holistic pet food, toys, gifts and
