As a pastor and taxpayer, I do not
believe it is the responsibility of
the federal government to fully
fund social programs. However,
if America's churches and syna-
gogues and places of worship ful-
filled their spiritual and religious
mandates, the homeless would
have homes, the hungry would
be fed, the widowed would have
companionship, and the orphaned
would have a home. Taxes would be
lower and financial giving to these
non-profits would increase. Further
tax breaks should be provided
to those who give to charitable
organizations, and federal grants
should be provided to those orga-
nizations that think outside of the
box and make a real difference in
their communities.
