Event Planning Expo
Joe Cornell Entertainment will host
its sixth annual Event Planning Expo
11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, at the
Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield. Fifty new and returning
exhibitors will display their wares and
services.

Schlussel, event organizer, "Planning
a party can be overwhelming. The Joe
Cornell Event Planning Expo brings
everyone together — in a low pressure
environment. It's one of a kind!"
Fifty vendors will be on hand: party
planners, decor, entertainment, venues,
photographers, videographers, cater-
ers, valet, invitations and gifts.
This year, the Detroit Jewish News is
a media sponsor. The show is open to
the public and free of charge.

Traverse City Shul Shines
It's been called "the Little Synagogue
on the Prairie" and its located in
Traverse City. Temple Beth El is the
oldest continuously operating syna-
gogue in Michigan, founded in 1885.
The only traditional synagogue
within a 60-mile radius it has a mem-
bership of 50 families and a rabbi who
comes one weekend a month.
This year, an anonymous donor
from Yonkers, N.Y., by way of Bay City,
will supplement the congregation's
eighth annual fundraiser raffle.
With tickets at the price of $25 and
a single prize of $2,500, he and his
wife have purchased $200 worth of
tickets, and in addition, will match any
one purchase of $500.
