heir styles are very different,
but the spirit of the Jewish
holidays — both solemn and
joyous — comes through in each and
every card.
More years ago than they can count,
Harriet Gelfond and her brother-in-
law Chuck Gelfond of Farmington
Hills began producing Rosh Hashanah
cards sporting their artwork. Harriet's
daughter, Gila, also got into on the act
some time ago.
The cards are much more than a

way to showcase their art. They were
designed to raise funds for the Jewish
Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit's special needs fund. So 20
percent of each card sold at the West
Bloomfield or Oak Park JCC goes
to the fund. Cards also are sold at
Tapper's Diamonds & Fine Jewelry,
West Bloomfield and Novi, with 20
percent going to JARC, a Farmington
Hills-based agency that helps those
with special needs. Each card sells for
$1.
Over the years, the artists have
amassed more than 35 designs.
Many of Chuck's are cartoon-like
