DR. ALFRED C.
KAHN, 79, of Boca
Raton, Fla., formerly
of Southfield, died
July 28, 2008.
He was an optom-
etrist and owner
of Monroe Optical
Kahn
before retiring to
Florida 10 years ago.
Dr. Kahn graduated from the
Chicago School of Optometry and
opened a practice in Detroit and then
Monroe, where he served Southeast
Michigan for over 40 years.
He was known for his generosity
to the community and for how he
helped those around him. Whether
it was giving a ride to an employee, a
pair of glasses to a friend's parents,
helping a friend start a business or
checking on the safety of the elderly
widows in his building during hurri-
canes, he was there for whatever any-
one needed. Generous was the word
most used to describe him.
He had a special affection for his
nieces and nephews and took pride
in their accomplishments. His many
friends were important to him and he
was a giving and compassionate man.
Dr. Kahn had a lifelong interest in
history and geography and loved to
travel; he had a special joy from his
many trips to New Orleans.
Dr. Kahn is survived by his dear
sister-in-law, Lenore Katz; beloved
nephews and nieces, Murray and Sue
Kahn, Allan and Linda Kahn Gale,
Howard and Heather Kahn; great-
nephews and great-nieces, David,
Stephen and Alexa Kahn, Eric and
Alyssa Kahn Gale and Heather Kahn;
best friend for over 40 years, Bernie
Franz; many other very dear friends.
He was the beloved son of the late
Harry and the late Sylvia Kahn; dear
brother of the late Eugene Kahn;
uncle of the late Sheri Kahn and the
late Jennifer Kahn.
A private service will be held by the
family. Contributions may be made to
a charity of one's choice.

They were
wonderful':

We hear kind words consistently. We're proud that
people feel comfortable enough with us to openly tell
us how much they appreciate what we did for them.
In fact, it's this appreciation that drives us to offer the
very best in comfort, compassion and service.
