JACK GORDON, 86, of Ypsilanti, died

April 10, 2008.
He is survived by his son and
daughter-in-law, Dennis and June
Gordon of Ypsilanti; daughters and
sons-in-law, Judy and Isaac Livny
of Allentown, Pa., Pattie and Aaron
Thomas of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; sis-
ter, Martha Levenstein of Herzlia,
Israel; grandchildren, Katie Gordon,
Miriam Livny, Yael Livny, Tom Livny,
Randy Thomas, Matthew and Somner
Thomas; great-grandchild, Haylee
Mae Thomas; sister-in-law, use
Goldschmidt.
Mr. Gordon was the beloved hus-
band of the late Barbara Gordon;
dear brother of the late Gus
Goldschmidt.

HELEN GREENBERG, 93, of

Southfield, died April 11, 2008.
She is survived by her sisters and
brother-in-law, Evelyn Schlesinger and
Roberta and Albert Newell; nieces,
Nancy (Edward) Bolsendahl, Carol
(Alvin) Levine, Andrea Wojcik, Laurel
(Gary) Moad, Patrice (Mark) Scheffler,
Debra Feldman, David (Judy)
Feldman.
She was the devoted sister of the late
Ruth Greenberg and the late Shirley
Gordon; aunt of the late Dr. David
Gordon.
Interment at the Adat Shalom
Memorial Park. Contributions may be
made to the Parkinson's Foundation or
to a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel.

RUTH ILEEN YASINOWSKY BUNIS
KRANITZ, 87, former Detroiter of

Marietta, Ga., died April 7, 2008.
She was born in in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mrs. Kranitz taught kindergarten for
20 years at the Vandenberg School
in Southfield. She had a degree in
pre-kindergarten education from the
University of Buffalo and a master's
in counseling from the University of
Michigan.
She was a founding member of
Congregation Shir Tikvah in Troy, was
a longtime active member of Sheruth
League and did reading for the blind
and Braille binding.
Mrs. Kranitz touched the lives of
many people throughout the years,
especially the hundreds of students in

her kindergarten classes to whom she
passed along a lifelong love of learn-
ing. Friends and family knew her as a
person of keen intelligence combined
with a good-natured sense of humor.
She is survived by her children,
Tobie Kranitz Walters of Alpharetta,
Ga., Ian Kranitz of North Hollywood,
Calif.; grandsons, Scott and Shawn
Kranitz of North Hollywood.
Per her wishes, her remains have
been donated to the Medical College of
Georgia to further scientific research.
A memorial service celebrating her
life is planned in the near future at
Congregation Shir Tikvah.

DR. MILTON LURIA, 82, of Rochester,
N.Y., died April 9, 2008. He is remem-
bered as a physician and educator.
Dr. Luria is survived by his sister,
Helen Husid of West Bloomfield;
brother, Dr. Harold (Doris) Luria of
West Bloomfield; nephews, Dr. Eric
(Cathe) Luria, Dr. Bruce (Susan) Luria,
Dr. Mark (Dr. Debra) Luria, Harley
Husid; niece, Mary Husid; special
friend, Dr. Elaine Hubbard; personal
secretary, Pam Flynn; many colleagues
and friends.
He was the son of the late Max and
the late Eva Luria; brother-in-law of
the late Harry Husid Jr.; uncle of the
late Warren Husid.
Services were held in Rochester, N.Y.

PHILIP S. MAISEL, 67, of West

Bloomfield, died April 6, 2008.
He is survived by his wife, Judith

Bowman; stepchildren, Mark Novak
of Novi, Brian Novak of Boulder,
