announced his candi-
dacy for the Democratic
nomination for
Oakland County
commissioner for
Farmington and
the west half of
Farmington Hills.
Schwartz has
pledged to run
Steven
a positive cam-

paign that will
focus on econom-
ic development and employment.
The primary election is Aug. 5.
The general election is Nov. 4.
Schwartz is principal attorney
of his Farmington Hills-based
law firm. He has represented local
government in labor relations and
employment law. Prior to practic-
ing law, he served as Birmingham's
assistant city manager and personnel
director and was executive direc-
tor of the Intergovernmental Cable
Communications Authority, a consor-
tium of II cities in Oakland County.
Schwartz has served on Farmington
Hills' Zoning Board of Appeals for
five years and the local Committee
for Non-Motorized Transportation
as well as the boards of the
Birmingham-Bloomfield Chamber
of Commerce and Congregation
B'nai Moshe in West Bloomfield.
"By reallocating existing
resources, we can promote Oakland
County as an attractive place to
conduct business, build a life and
raise a family;" said Schwartz. "We
have the skilled workforce, research
institutions and technological base
to attract global and emerging
technology companies from Asia,
Europe and Israel, to attract them
to open facilities and offices in
Oakland County"
Schwartz graduated Wayne
State University in Detroit, holds a
master's in urban planning from the
University of Michigan and earned a
bachelor's in government from Clark
University in Massachusetts.
