DR. JUDITH GARLOCK CHEEK,

57, former Detroiter of Washington,

D.C., died Feb. 28, 2008.
She grew up in Southfield and
graduated from Williams College
and the University of Michigan
Medical School. Dr. Cheek prac-
ticed obstetrics and gynecology in
Washington and in Maryland since
1983 and was on the staff at Sibley
Hospital. She struggled for over a
decade with a rare sarcoma, battling
with her fierce spirit and tenacity.
Dr. Cheek delivered hundreds of
babies at Georgetown and Sibley
Memorial hospitals. She was a
member of the ob-gyn clinical facil-
ity at Georgetown's hospital and
medical school from 1980 to 1983.
She then formed a practice with Dr.
Elinor Bond Marlin in Chevy Chase.
At Sibley, Dr. Cheek served on the
executive committee and was chair-
woman of the Perinatal Practice
Committee.
For several years she was named
among the top doctors in the
Washington area by Washington
magazine.
Dr. Cheek is survived by her
husband of 27 years, Robert Cheek
of Arlington; son, Jonathan Cheek
of San Francisco; daughter, Laura
Cheek of Arlington; parents, Phyllis
and Joseph Garlock of Southfield;
sister and brother-in-law, Nancy

ROSELYN COHEN, 77, of Westland,

died March 7, 2008.
A substitute teacher and pro-
bation officer for Wayne County
36th District for over 20 years, she
received her teacher's certificate and
master's degree from Wayne State
and was a board member and a
founding member of First Step.
Mrs. Cohen is survived by her
husband, Mort Cohen of Westland;
children, Margo Cohen and her
partner, Cindy Anderson of St. Paul,
Minn., Stuart and Stephanie Cohen
of Northville, Lisa Cohen of London,
England; grandchildren, Lindsay
Cohen and Adrienne Cohen; sisters
and brothers-in-law, Edith Feld,
Phyllis and John Huges, Brooke,
Myron Fine and Al Budman; sister-
in-law, Joyce Klein.
She was the beloved sister and
sister-in-law of the late Pearl
Greenberg, the late Shirley Budman,
the late Morris Rash and the late
Rabbi Minard Klein.

6, 2008.
A native of
Toronto, Ontario,
Mr. Goldstein
Goldstein
was president
c. 1970
of Federal
Department
Stores for 15 years, a vice president
of Zayre Corporation in charge of
the New York office and past presi-
dent of Yankee Department Store in
Michigan. He then pursued a second
career in commercial real estate.
He was a proud World War II vet-
eran and will be greatly missed by
family and friends.
Mr. Goldstein is survived by his
wife of 67 years, Sylvia Goldstein;
son and daughter-in-law, David
and Marcia Goldstein; daughters
and sons-in-law, Judith and Jerry
Greenbaum, Marcie Goldstein and
Bijan Amini; grandchildren, Julie
Beth Greenbaum, Matthew and
Molly Goldstein, Mari Amini and
Alex Amini; brother and sister-in-
law, Dr. Al and Myrna Goldstein;
many nieces and nephews.
