She grew up in Southfield and graduated from Williams College and the University of Michigan Medical School. Dr. Cheek prac- ticed obstetrics and gynecology in Washington and in Maryland since 1983 and was on the staff at Sibley Hospital. She struggled for over a decade with a rare sarcoma, battling with her fierce spirit and tenacity. Dr. Cheek delivered hundreds of babies at Georgetown and Sibley Memorial hospitals. She was a member of the ob-gyn clinical facil- ity at Georgetown's hospital and medical school from 1980 to 1983. She then formed a practice with Dr. Elinor Bond Marlin in Chevy Chase. At Sibley, Dr. Cheek served on the executive committee and was chair- woman of the Perinatal Practice Committee. For several years she was named among the top doctors in the Washington area by Washington magazine.
