objective third party is telling our
dynamic story," Tauber says. "It can
only contribute to greater under-
standing in the general community
which will enhance and enrich
the diverse culture of our city and
state:'

Meticulous Process

Our Jewish American Story will take
a full year to complete, and Famie
and his crew will shoot and then
sort through a projected 80 hours
of film footage. He plans to travel
to Israel with Federation's Teen
Mission in July. He also plans to
showcase this year's JCC Maccabi
Games being held in Metro Detroit
and to cover the local events sur-
rounding Israel's 60th anniversary.
According to Famie, the docu-
mentary would not be complete
without profiling two of the Jewish
community's most beloved and
influential members and mentors,
the late Max M. Fisher and the late
David B. Hermelin.
The estimated budget for Famie's
documentary films range from
$250,000 to $350,000 and, as he did
for the previous installments of the
"Our Story Of" series, Famie has
been meeting with area business
leaders, individuals, companies and
organizations to secure sponsors.
Sponsors can choose to remain
anonymous or receive recogni-
tion in several ways, such as in the
credits of the documentary, on the
official Web site, www.ourstoryof.com
(which features extensive, behind-
the-scenes stories and photographs
about every individual and event
filmed throughout the year), on the
Our Jewish American Story DVD
compilation, and at Flavors of the
Jewish World, a festive, celebratory
event for the Jewish community
and the news media.
Scheduled to be held at the
Rock Financial Showplace in Novi
the week before the documen-
tary airs on WXYZ-TV, Flavors of
the Jewish World will host more
than 700 guests who will enjoy
traditional Jewish foods and live
entertainment, meet the everyday
neighbors, heroes and soon-to-be
stars featured in the documentary
and get the first look at Our Jewish
American Story on the screen. '

Recently, property taxes have continued to escalate while
property values have plummeted. Very shortly, you will be
receiving in the mail your tax assessment notifying you of
another probable tax increase.
