TEMPERATURES RISING
Entertainment enters into this year's Walk
for Warmth, the annual fundraiser to
help pay the heating bills of those need-
ing assistance. The Oakland Livingston
Human Services Agency will have the
event in a new location, the Palace of Auburn Hills, and will feature local bands
along the route, the concourse of the Palace. There also will be a Kiddie Kourt,
where children will see clowns, play games, have their faces painted and win prizes
while the adults are walking. A light breakfast and coffee will be served. The event
is set for 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 16. In its 18th year, the walk is being planned
with the idea of raising $170,000. To find out how to participate, donate or launch

CHOICE CHOCOLATES Raising funds for the Michigan State University
Museum gets very tasty as supporters feast on chocolates — tortes, cheesecakes,
truffles and toppings flowing from a fountain — 1:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24,
at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center in East Lansing. The 19th annual
Chocolate Party Benefit features area chefs and culinary students competing to
create inspired, edible masterpieces made from chocolate. In the past, competitors
have sculpted carousels, pyramids and gardens as local restaurants and candy mak-
ers share their more traditional sweets. Proceeds go to the care and preservation of
the cultural and natural history collections of the museum, which holds nearly 1
million objects and artifacts maintained in four buildings on campus. The museum
was founded 150 years ago and became the state's first Smithsonian Institution
affiliate in 2001. With special collections and changing exhibits, facilities are open
seven days of the week free of charge. $25-$75. (517) 355-2370. museum.msu.edu .

figure skaters have been chosen to portray the characters introduced in the TV
movie, theater productions and recordings. Audiences will see much of the same
story line expressed as the young cast dances on ice. Show times are 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday-Thursday, Feb. 27-28; 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 29; 11:30
