STANLEY
HERMAN, 87, of
Oak Park, died Jan.
30, 2008, in Seattle,
Wash.
A World War II
Navy veteran, he was

a salesman most of
Herman
his adult life, first
in real estate and
then insurance. His friends and family
will fondly remember "the Captain"
(so named for the ever-present hat he
wore) for his generosity of spirit and
his love of life.
Mr. Herman was a graduate of
Central High School, class of 1938
and a member of both the Panthers
A.C. and the Detroiters. Later, he
was an active member of the Singles
Extension Group of Temple Israel
and, in his 70s, was a dance host
aboard several cruises, traveling to the
Mediterranean, Caribbean, Montreal
and Alaska.
He is survived by his sister, Betty
Jane Herman of Southfield; daughter
and son-in-law Erica and Jeff Pearl of
Sammamish; son, Stuart Herman of
Aurora, Colo.; granddaughters, Eliana
Pearl of Sammamish and Rachel Pearl
of Hempstead, N.Y.; brother-in-law
and sister-in-law, Murton and Reyna
Katt of Boynton Beach, Fla.; many
cousins, nieces and nephews through-
out the United States; significant other,
Sylvia Clarfeldt of Southfield; the won-
derful staff and residents of the Coville
Assisted Living Apts. in Oak Park; the
men of the JCC Poker Club; numerous
friends throughout the Detroit metro-
politan area.
Mr. Herman was the beloved son of
the late Edward and the late Hermina
Herman; loving husband of the late
Marilyn Herman; devoted brother of
the late Larry Herman.

LABENSKY, 92, of
