FOR KIDNEY HEALTH A trip to Paris (left), golfing with the pros and a home-
cooked meal by a top restaurant chef are among the coveted items being auctioned at
Motown Magic, the annual fundraiser planned by the National Kidney Foundation of
Michigan. The event, which begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Marriott in
the Detroit Renaissance Center (above), opens with cocktails, continues with dinner
and is jazzed up with the music of the Rumplestiltskin Band. Proceeds support kidney
disease prevention programs, patient services and educational initiatives for children.
$250. (800) 482-1455. www.nkfm.org .

SEASONAL SATIRE Holiday homecomings lose all their sentimentality when
they become the subjects of The Second City's Dysfunctional Holiday Revue
directed by Mark Levenson. Fast-paced and interactive, the show invites members of
the audience to share their personal experiences — and hopefully some comic looks
— at their own families and remembered holiday hoopla. The humor gets started
with the help of local comics Brett Guennel, Quintin Hicks, Jaime Moyer, Tara
Nida and Tim Robinson. The show, with an open-ended run, is performed at 42705
Grand River in Novi and begins at 8 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays; 8 and 10 p.m.
Fridays; 7, 9 and 11 p.m. Saturdays; and 8 p.m. Sundays. $15-$20. (248) 348-4448.
