Our Kadima benefit this year was a smashing success. Joshua Nelson
and the Kosher Gospel Singers performed Hebrew and Jewish spiritual
music with soul that rocked the Max Music Center and the hand-clapping
and foot tapping audience. This evening was quite a happening, and
it was hard to sit still in the seats!! I want to extend a very special thank
you to our benefit honorees, Naomi and Lionel Margolick for being
such generous Kadima supporters, along with our benefit chairmen,
Bill Berman, Michael Maddin, Steve Miller, Eugene Applebaum, Diane
and Emery Klein, Sandi Tamaroff and our parlor hosts, Joy and Allan
Nachman. Our Kadima volunteers and staff who worked so hard on the
benefit committee and ticket sales also deserve a warm thank you.

Kadima has recently expanded its mission to serve families dealing
with sons and daughters younger than age 18, who are struggling
with mental illness. Our new Kadima Youth Initiative includes a Family
Advocacy Support Group for families of children with behavioral
issues and emotional disorders, and we are looking into the possibility

The Kadima Youth Initiative has also
empowered the Educational Conference
Committee to put together a day of learn-
ing and exploration at Oakland University
on November 16th entitled "When
Mental Illness First Appears: Advocating
For Our Youth At Risk." Please consider
attending this very important conference
focusing on the justice system, diagnosis
and treatment issues affecting our youth,
advocacy and resources in our public
schools and in our community, and sui-
cide prevention.

Gail Katz, President

I would like to wish our community a very happy and healthy

Joshua Nelson (center) with Benefit Honorees Lionel Margolick & Naomi Margolick

On September 25th, more than 1,500 Kadima supporters were
treated to a concert by Joshua Nelson, his Kosher Gospel Singers and
his backup musicians. For 90 minutes he sang, joked about his reli-
gious upbringing and paid homage to Kadima. The audience danced
and clapped to his unique Jewish Gospel music.

Prior to Nelson's performance, the first Kadima Tzedakah Award
was presented to Naomi and Lionel Margolick by Event Chairman,
Mandell (Bill) Berman in recognition of the Margolick's long-time com-
mitment to Kadima.

Thanks to the generosity of so many Kadima donors, this was the
most successful event in Kadima's 23 year history.

KADIMA announces the purchase of the

Ann and Norman Katz Home for four individuals
located in West Bloomfield.

THANKS TO THE GENEROSITY of the
children and grandchildren of Sarah Pitt, KADIMA
received its 21st home located in Farmington.

The dedication of both homes will take place in the late fall.

Disorder, Conduct Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Eating Disorders.

coping skills, advocacy and knowledge about community resources. The

TIME IS RUNNING OUT

When you reach the age of 70 1/2, the government insists that you
begin withdrawing money from your IRAs. The Pension Protection Act
of 2006 allows individuals age 70 1/2 and older to donate some of
this money directly from their traditional IRA through their financial
institution to a charity such as KADIMA without paying taxes on this
gift.

Gifts can range from $100 to $100,000. YOU ONLY HAVE
UNTIL THE END OF DECEMBER 2007 TO HELP KADIMA WITH A
CONTRIBUTION IN THIS WAY.

This is a win-win opportunity for you and for us. Please call Doris
@ 248-559-8235 for more information
